Disclaimer & Garment Care

Last Updated: October 11, 2026

At Valmont London, we want your garments to maintain their appearance, fit and quality for as long as possible.

The information below provides general garment-care guidance. Always check the care label attached to your individual garment before washing, drying, ironing or cleaning it.

If the instructions on your garment's care label differ from the general guidance below, always follow the garment care label.

Washing

To help preserve the appearance and condition of your garments, we generally recommend:

  • Washing at a low temperature where appropriate

  • Turning garments inside out before washing

  • Using a gentle washing cycle

  • Using a mild detergent

  • Separating light and dark colours

  • Washing similar fabrics together

Where appropriate, avoid:

  • Excessively hot water

  • Bleach

  • Strong optical brighteners

  • Harsh detergents

  • Overloading your washing machine

  • Excessive spinning

  • Washing delicate garments together with abrasive items

Using unsuitable washing methods may result in:

  • Shrinkage

  • Colour fading

  • Pilling

  • Fabric distortion

  • Damage to prints

  • Damage to embroidery

  • Damage to buttons, zips or other trims

Always refer to the care label before washing.

Drying

Where permitted by the garment care label, allow garments to dry naturally.

Avoid excessive heat, as high drying temperatures may cause:

  • Shrinkage

  • Fabric damage

  • Loss of shape

  • Colour deterioration

If tumble drying is permitted, use the temperature recommended on the garment's care label.

Certain garments, particularly knitwear, may benefit from being dried flat to help preserve their shape.

Proper Storage

How clothing is stored can affect its shape and lifespan.

We generally recommend:

  • Folding knitwear and heavier garments rather than hanging them

  • Using suitable hangers for coats, jackets and structured garments

  • Ensuring garments are completely dry before storing them

  • Keeping clothing in a clean and dry environment

  • Avoiding excessive compression for long periods

  • Allowing sufficient ventilation

Heavy knitwear may stretch or develop shoulder marks when left hanging for extended periods.

Temperature & Moisture

Garments should generally be stored away from:

  • Excessive heat

  • Extreme cold

  • Direct sunlight for extended periods

  • Damp environments

  • High humidity

  • Poorly ventilated areas

  • Water or persistent moisture

Extended exposure to sunlight may cause some colours or fabrics to fade over time.

If a garment becomes wet, allow it to dry completely before storing it.

Choosing the Correct Size

Selecting the appropriate size helps maintain both the intended appearance and longevity of a garment.

A garment that is excessively tight may place unnecessary strain on:

  • Seams

  • Buttons

  • Zips

  • Fabric

  • Stitching

A garment that is excessively loose may also sit differently from the intended design.

Before ordering, we recommend reviewing the sizing information shown on the relevant product page.

Please note that sizing may vary slightly between:

  • Styles

  • Fits

  • Materials

  • Cuts

  • Manufacturers

Measurements shown on our website are intended as guidance and may have small tolerances.

If you are unsure about sizing, please contact our customer service team before ordering.

Cleaning & General Care

To help preserve your garments:

  • Address stains as soon as reasonably possible

  • Avoid excessive rubbing or scrubbing

  • Avoid harsh cleaning chemicals

  • Avoid excessive soaking unless permitted by the care instructions

  • Keep garments away from substances that may permanently stain or damage the fabric

When ironing, always use a temperature appropriate for the fabric.

Where relevant:

  • Turn garments inside out before ironing

  • Avoid ironing directly over printed designs

  • Avoid direct heat on embroidery

  • Avoid ironing directly over decorative hardware or trims

Where a garment is labelled Dry Clean Only, we recommend using a professional dry-cleaning service.

Knitwear Care

Knitwear may require additional care to maintain its shape and appearance.

Where compatible with the care label, we recommend:

  • Washing gently

  • Avoiding excessive stretching

  • Drying flat

  • Folding instead of hanging for long periods

  • Removing pilling carefully with a suitable fabric-care tool

Some pilling may occur naturally through friction and wear, particularly with soft or knitted fabrics.

Coats & Structured Garments

Coats, blazers and other structured pieces should generally be stored on appropriately shaped hangers.

Avoid:

  • Narrow wire hangers

  • Compressing structured garments for extended periods

  • Storing them while damp

  • Excessive home washing where professional cleaning is recommended

Always follow the individual care label.

Product Images & Colours

We make reasonable efforts to present our products accurately.

However, colours may appear slightly different in person due to factors including:

  • Screen settings

  • Device type

  • Display brightness

  • Photography lighting

  • Natural lighting

  • Individual monitor calibration

Minor differences between the colour displayed on your screen and the physical product may therefore occur.

Natural Product Variations

Small variations may occur between individual garments as a normal part of apparel manufacturing.

These may include minor differences in:

  • Colour tone

  • Texture

  • Stitching

  • Pattern placement

  • Trim

  • Measurements

Where such variations fall within normal manufacturing tolerances and do not affect the reasonable use of the garment, they may not constitute a product defect.

This does not affect your statutory rights where a product is faulty, damaged, materially different from its description or otherwise does not conform to applicable consumer protection requirements.

Sizing & Measurement Disclaimer

Measurements displayed on product pages are approximate unless expressly stated otherwise.

Minor measurement differences may occur due to:

  • Production tolerances

  • Fabric characteristics

  • Measuring methods

  • Garment construction

We therefore recommend using size charts as guidance rather than assuming that the same labelled size will fit identically across every Valmont London product.

Wear & Tear

Clothing naturally experiences wear over time.

The rate of wear may depend on:

  • Frequency of use

  • Washing frequency

  • Washing method

  • Friction

  • Storage

  • Environmental conditions

  • Fabric type

Normal wear and tear resulting from ordinary use is different from a manufacturing defect.

Following the care label and the guidance on this page can help extend the useful life of your garments.

Delicate Materials

Certain fabrics and finishes may require particular care.

Items containing delicate materials, embellishments, embroidery or specialised finishes should be handled carefully.

Where the care label recommends:

  • Hand washing

  • Low-temperature washing

  • Dry cleaning

  • Air drying

  • No tumble drying

those instructions should be followed.

Jewellery, Bags & Rough Surfaces

Certain materials may snag when they come into contact with:

  • Jewellery

  • Bag hardware

  • Rough surfaces

  • Velcro

  • Sharp objects

  • Abrasive accessories

Take particular care when wearing knitted, woven or delicate fabrics.

Packaging Safety

Keep plastic bags, protective wrapping, tags and other packaging materials away from babies and young children.

Some garments or accessories may contain small detachable components such as:

  • Buttons

  • Decorative pieces

  • Fasteners

  • Tags

These may present a choking hazard if detached.

General Safety

Inspect garments periodically for signs of significant wear or damage.

Discontinue use where damage to a garment, accessory, fastening or other component could reasonably present a safety risk.

Garments should always be used for their intended purpose.

No Professional Advice

The information provided on this page is general garment-care guidance only.

Individual materials and products may require specific treatment.

For specialised cleaning, stain removal or restoration, we recommend consulting a qualified professional cleaner.

Valmont London cannot guarantee the outcome of cleaning, washing, alteration or repair performed by customers or third-party service providers where instructions are not followed or inappropriate methods are used.

Customer Responsibility

Customers are responsible for following:

  • Reasonable washing and storage practices

  • Any product-specific care instructions supplied on the product page or packaging

Damage caused by improper washing, drying, ironing, storage, alteration, misuse or failure to follow the garment's care instructions may not qualify as a manufacturing defect.

Nothing in this section limits any mandatory consumer rights provided by applicable law.
